Abstract

Sweet corn commodities also experienced an increase in Indonesia. Consumption of sweet corn continues to increase in line with population growth and consumption patterns. Corn is a multi-functional plant that has many uses, and almost all parts of the plant can be used for various purposes, therefore corn has an important role in industrial development in Indonesia because it is a raw material for the food industry. The increase in consumption of corn, especially sweet corn, is very high because the demand for sweet corn is increasing from year to year. The demand for sweet corn is met in the need for action to increase production. Increased production of sweet corn can be done by preparing suitable conditions for plant growth and development, namely by improving cultivation techniques using high-yielding seeds, providing balanced fertilizers, eradicating pests and diseases, and good and correct harvest handling processes. The proper dosage of Phonska NPK fertilizer and the number of seeds per planting hole can increase the growth and production of sweet corn plants optimally. The results showed that Phonska NPK fertilizer level P3 (115.6 g/plot) had a significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, ear length, ear diameter, and total dissolved solids. The number of seeds per planting hole at level B1 (one seed per planting hole) had a significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, ear length, ear diameter, and total dissolved solids but had no significant effect on leaf number. The interaction of Phonska NPK fertilizer and the number of seeds per planting hole had a significant effect on stem diameter, ear length, and ear diameter but had no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, and total dissolved solids.
