Abstract

Obesity is currently a problem in the world. Lifestyles such as eating fast food, junk food, lack of activity and exercise which can cause obesity rates to increase every year. Obesity has a negative impact on health. Obesity may causing various diseases and may even causing death. Central obesity is a condition where the waist circumference is above 90 cm in men and above 80 cm in woman.Adipose tissue is also known as an endocrine organ that can release active mediators. One of the active mediators released is Retinol Binding Protein 4 (RBP4). RBP4 is a risk factor for diseases such as insulin resistance, affecting fat metabolisme such as increasing cholesterol, low swnsity lipoprotein (LDL), tryglicerides, apolipoprotein B (apo B), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), diabetes mellitus type 2, heart disease and metabolic syndrome. RBP4 in subcutaneous adipose tissue is associated with several macrophages and inflammatory markers. RBP4 is known to increase TNFα which can stimulate lipolysis.
