Background : Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an acute epidemic disease caused by the dengue virus.
Symptoms of dengue fever (DD) are classics such as sudden onset of high fever, severe headache, pain
behind the eyes, weakness, vomiting, sore throat, skin rash maculopapular, and decreased platelets. The
purpose of this study was to determine the change in platelet count description in adult patients of dengue
hemorrhagic fever were admitted at Regional General Deli Serdang in 2014.
Methods : The research design in the form of a descriptive study with retrospective data collection. Data
obtained from medical record in Deli Serdang general hospital in 2014.
Results : Of the 52 cases analyzed, The patient highest age is 21-30 years with the total of 18 people (34.6%).
The patient highest gender is man with the patient total of 29 people (55.7%). the results of platelet count day
1 <50.000 with the patient total 25 people (48.0%), average value 54.134. Value platelet count 3 days
<100.000 with the patient total of 28 people (53.8%), average value 59.250. The last day value platelet
>100.000 with the patient total of 26 people (50%), average value 115.192. Highest clinical symptoms are
fever with 39 complaints (36.8%). The highest areas is Tanjung Morawa number with the patient total 15
people (28.8%).
Conclusion : Based on this study it can be concluded that the change description s in the number of platelets
in adult patients of dengue fever who were treated showed the highest age was 21-30 years. Most are male
gender. Decreased platelets on day 1 and day 3 with numbers which are not specific and on the last day, when
there is an increase in the value of platelets, the patient deported even though the value of platelets is still
below average. Prominent clinical symptoms are fever. The highest epidemic areas is Tanjung Morawa.
