Abstract

Background: Contact dermatitis is inflammation due to materials or substances attached to the skin. Materials that cause contact dermatitis in general are chemicals contained in the tools worn by patients (accessories, clothing, shoes, cosmetics, topical drugs) or those related to work/hobbies (cement, laundry soap, pesticides, solvents, chemicals) paint, plants) as well as by the surrounding materials (cement dust, animal hair or other pollutants). Contact dermatitis is divided into two types, namely allergic contact dermatitis and irritant contact dermatitis.

Methods: This study is a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach, using medical record data at TK II Putri Hijau Hospital Medan Kesdam-I/BB. The population covered by this study were sufferers of contact dermatitis at the TK II Putri Hijau Hospital Medan Kesdam-I/BB in 2018 as many as 53 cases.

Conclusion: Characteristics of patients with contact dermatitis at TK II Putri Hijau Hospital Medan Kesdam-I/BB in 2018 the most were female, age group 26-35 years, last education level was high school, housewife occupation, erythematous rash and papules, type of contact dermatitis irritants, topical corticosteroid therapy.
