Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis is a contagious infectious disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. patients with diabetes melitus and metabolic syndrome have a higher risk of developing pulmonary tuberculosis. Tuberculosis patients with diabetes melitus had worse TB treatment outcomes, a higher recurrence rate after tuberculosis treatment, and a higher risk of death from TB compared to tuberculosis patients alone. This study aims to determine the relationship between Metabolic Syndrome and Tuberculosis. This study uses the literature review method. Research journals are then collected and journal summaries are made. The summary of the research journal is then analyzed for the content contained in the research objectives and the results / research findings.

Methods: This type of research uses the literature review method or library research. Literature review is a systematic, explicit and reproducible method for identifying, evaluating and synthesizing research works and ideas that have been produced by researchers and practitioners.

Conclusion: The conclusion of the results of this study is that there is a relationship between Metabolic Syndrome Criteria and Tuberculosis. Metabolic Syndrome can be a parameter in determining diagnosis and risk factors in increasing the incidence of Tuberculosis.
