ABSTRACT
Background: Pregnant women can benefit from antenatal care (ANC) in various ways, including better monitoring of the health of both mother and fetus, early detection of problems, and a reduced risk of maternal and fetal mortality. Their attitudes and understanding influence their ANC visits frequency.
Objective: Specifically, the aim was to investigate whether there is a correlation between pregnant women's attitudes and understanding regarding ANC visits at the Padang Bulan Community Health Center (UPT Puskesmas).
Methods: A cross-sectional approach was used in this quantitative study. A total of 38 pregnant women in their third trimester were selected using consecutive sampling. The research instrument used was a knowledge and attitude questionnaire that has been tested for reliability and validity. The Chi-square test was used to analyze the data.
Results: ANC visits among pregnant women were significantly associated with their knowledge and attitudes regarding ANC, according to the Chi-square test, which yielded a p-value of 0.001 (<0.005).
Conclusion: A strong relationship was found between the frequency of ANC visits and knowledge and attitudes. To maintain regular annual check-ups (ANC), pregnant women should increase their knowledge through counseling with health workers and get support from their families.
