Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is one of several metabolic diseases that continue to rise globally, with a relatively high prevalence in Indonesia. High levels of HbA1c are indicative of poor glycemic control and can increase the risk of complications in diabetic patients. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and fasting blood glucose levels with HbA1c in diabetic patients at RSUD Vina Estetica in 2023. Method: This research used chi-square analysis by examining the medical records of diabetic patients who met the criteria to be used as secondary data. Results: The findings revealed a significant relationship between fasting blood glucose levels and HbA1c with a p-value of 0.009. High HbA1c levels correlated with an increased risk of diabetes complications. Conversely, no significant relationship was found between body mass index and HbA1c, with a p-value of 0.259. Conclusion: The research results indicated a relationship between fasting blood glucose levels and HbA1c in diabetic patients, while body mass index does not have a significant correlation with HbA1c at RSUD Vina Estetica in 2023
