Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the germ Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Thoracic photography is one of the examinations that support the clinical diagnosis of pulmonary TB. Chest photos can show several abnormalities specific to pulmonary TB but there are also many other lung diseases with the same picture in pulmonary TB. Imaging findings that can be seen are consolidation, fibrosis, calcification, cavities, effusions, and lymphadenopathy. One of the lesions that can be found in pulmonary TB and other lung diseases is cavities.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the profile of thoracic photographs in pulmonary TB patients before and after TB treatment for 6 months at the radiology installation of RSU Vina Estetica Medan city.

Research method: The type of research used is observational analytic measurement research, using a cross sectional design approach.

Research Results: The total number of research samples was 58 samples. Analysis using the Mac-Nemar chi square test. The results showed that there were significant changes in the infiltrate, homogeneous consolidation, fibrosis, fibroinfiltrate

Conclusion: The research results found significant changes in the Infiltrate, homogeneous consolidation, fibrosis, and fibroinfiltrate images on chest X-rays of pulmonary tuberculosis patients before and after initial treatment p<0.05, which indicates that there is a significant relationship between the tested variables.
