Abstract

Abstract

Background: DM is a disease caused by damage to the insulin hormone which is characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels that exceed normal limits. The increase in DM sufferers continues to increase so it is of special concern. The use of oral hypoglycemic drugs and insulin is the goal of therapy for DM sufferers. However, undesirable side effects often occur. Many people use plants as medicine. One of the medicinal plants that has antidiabetic properties is fragrant pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.).

Objective: to understand the impact of wangi pandan leaf extract (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) on reducing blood sugar content in male mice (Mus musculus) in a model of diabetes mellitus that has been induced by alloxan.

Method: This observation includes True Experimental research with a pre test design and post test control group design. This observation used male mice which were divided into 6 groups, namely the normal group, the negative group, the positive control group, the group that received fragrant pandan leaf extract at a dose of 2 mg/0.5 ml, 4 mg/0.5 ml and 6 mg/0. .5 ml.

Results: in this observation there was a significant impact indicating a reduction in blood sugar content that was close to normal in the group given fragrant pandan leaf extract with a score of P(0.0001) (P<0.05)

Conclusion: Wangi pandan leaf extract at a dose of 2 mg/0.5 ml is more effective in reducing blood sugar content in male mice.
