The Relationship between Knowledge, Family Support and the Role of Health Workers with Stunting Prevention Behavior in Pregnant Women at the Salak Community Health Center, Pakpak Bharat Regency in 2024

Abstract

Background : Stunting is a problem in children who experience delays in growth due to chronic malnutrition, recurrent infections, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation.

Objective : to determine the relationship between knowledge, family support and the role of health workers with stunting prevention behavior at the Salak Community Health Center, Pakpak Bharat Regency.

Research method : The type of research used in this research is analytical research with a cross sectional design. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire with validity and reliability tests. The population for this research was 38 pregnant women at the Salak Community Health Center, Pakpak Bharat Regency. Data analysis techniques consist of univariate and bivariate. Data analysis used the chi-square test.

Results : The results of the research showed that 16 pregnant women had good maternal knowledge (42.1%), 14 pregnant mothers had good category family support (36.8%), 14 pregnant mothers had the good category of the role of health workers (36,8%), and stunting prevention behavior in the good category was 16 pregnant women (42.1%). The results of the chi-square statistical test showed that knowledge (p-value was 0.015), family support (p-value was 0.038), and the role of health workers (p-value was 0.038) with stunting prevention behavior in pregnant women.

Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between knowledge, the role of health workers and stunting prevention behavior at the Salak health center, Pakpak Bharat Regency. It is hoped that health workers will increase education regarding stunting.
