Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease with the sign of high blood glucose exceeds the normal. To improve quality of life, the adherence of antidiabetec drugs is needed.
Objectives: To know the relationship between knowledge and attitude of type 2 diabetes mellitus patiens towards adherence to antidiabetic medication at mitra sejati general hospital in 2024
Methods: This study uses cross-sectional design with 57 samples from in the incluvise catagory. The independent variables were patient’s knowledge and attitude, while the dependent variable was the adherence of antidiabetec medication. Datas were taken using questionnaire and analyzed with Somers’ D test using SPSS 26 with significance level of 0.05.
Results: In the poll, majority of patients’ knowledge moderate (54.4%), attitude on DM treatment were 84.2% negative, and the adherence of patients moderate (49,1%). Statistical test showed moderate correlation between knowledge and adherence of antidiabetic drugs (r = 0,553 and p = 0,000), and between attitude and adherence of antidiabetic drugs (r = 0,521 and p = 0,012). The involvement of health workers and family are important to help patients know better about DM’s treatment that could help with higher level of adherence of the antidiabetic drugs.
