Hypertension, productive ageAbstract
Hypertension remains a critical public health challenge globally, with a significant burden observed among individuals in their productive years (ages 18-65). This manuscript offers a detailed exploration of hypertension within this demographic, focusing on its epidemiology and associated risk factors. Furthermore, this review highlights the disparities in hypertension awareness, treatment, and control rates across different regions and socioeconomic groups, underscoring the importance of tailored public health strategies to address these gaps. We discuss the effectiveness of various hypertension management strategies, ranging from pharmacological treatments to lifestyle modifications, digital health interventions, and policy-driven approaches aimed at reducing population-level blood pressure. The manuscript concludes with a call for a multidisciplinary approach to combat hypertension in the productive age population, emphasizing the need for innovative, scalable, and culturally sensitive interventions. It underlines the critical role of primary prevention and early detection in curbing the hypertension epidemic and its consequences on the global workforce productivity and health systems. Our findings advocate for the integration of hypertension control within broader non-communicable disease prevention frameworks, urging for concerted efforts among policymakers, healthcare providers, communities, and individuals to address this growing public health menace effectively.
