Eclampsia is a dangerous complication of pregnancy that can lead to maternal and fetal death. This study aims to review the risk factors for the occurrence of eclampsia based on a literature review of the past 10 years. The method used was a literature review of 10 observational research articles on the risk factors for eclampsia. The results showed several major risk factors, including a history of hypertension, maternal age below 20 or above 35 years, primipara, and irregular antenatal care visits. Other factors included low socioeconomic status, obesity, and a family history of pre-eclampsia. It is concluded that early detection and control of hypertension in pregnant women need to be improved to prevent the occurrence of eclampsia. Recommendations given include increasing education about the signs of pregnancy danger to pregnant women and their families, screening for hypertension early in pregnancy, and ensuring access to and quality of antenatal care services. By controlling these risk factors, it is hoped that the maternal and fetal mortality rates due to eclampsia can be reduced.
