Acute Otitis Media (OMA) is a common infection of the middle ear, especially in children. Although it can appear in various age ranges, the group of children aged 6-24 months is considered to be the most susceptible to this condition. Symptoms of AOM include intense ear pain, fever, and possible discharge from the ear. Diagnosis of AOM involves a physical examination, such as otoscopy, and can be supported by audiometric examination if necessary. Treatment of AOM depends on the severity and may involve administering antibiotics, analgesics, and other procedures such as myringotomy. Amoxicillin is generally the primary choice in antibiotic therapy, with an alternative option for patients allergic to penicillin. Although the prognosis for AOM tends to be good, a thorough understanding of risk factors, symptoms, and effective treatment approaches remains important to provide optimal care and prevent potential complications.
