Abstract

Background: Fibroadenoma mammae is a type of non-malignant tumor (benign tumor) that appears in the breast and is often found in women under 35 years old. FAM is an abnormal growth that occurs within the glands and stroma of the connective tissue in the breast. Diet has an impact on the occurrence of fibroadenoma mammae. Diet reflects the way a person meets their nutritional needs, including the type of food consumed, the number of portions eaten, and how often they eat. Foods rich in unsaturated fats play an important role in increasing the risk of breast diseases, including FAM.

Research Objective: To know the relationship between diet and the incidence of FAM at RSU Vina Estetica Medan in 2021 2022.

Methods: The study used observational analytic measurements with a cross-sectional design. The samples in the study were from 60 patients who were diagnosed or not diagnosed with fibroadenoma mammae.

Results: The majority of patients who experienced fibroadenoma mammae were 30 patients (50.0%) and occurred in the late adolescent age category (17–25 years) with a frequency of 30 people (50.0%). In the distribution of diet, it was found that the majority of patients had a poor diet, totaling 33 patients (55.5%). The results of the analysis also showed a relationship between diet and the incidence of mammary fibroadenoma, with a p value of 0.000.
Conclusion: There is a relationship between diet and the incidence of Fibroadenoma mammae (p = 0.000).
