Abstract

This research aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based fire detection system for smart homes using the NodeMCU ESP32, equipped with smoke and flame sensors, as well as an automatic water pump. The system is designed to provide real-time notifications via the Telegram application and to take proactive action by activating the water pump when a potential fire is detected. This study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method, encompassing stages such as analysis, requirements, system design, and testing. The testing results show that the system is capable of detecting fire with a high level of accuracy based on sensor data and successfully responds automatically by activating the water pump and sending notifications. The conclusion of this study is that the IoT-based fire detection system can enhance the effectiveness of smart home security, with the potential for further development by adding features such as gas sensors or backup connectivity.
