<p style="font-weight: 400;"><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">This study examined the code-mixing found in the students’ conversation at the International Education Centre (IEC). The aim of this study was to find out about the types of code-mixing. This study case uses qualitative research methods along with conceptual analysis. This study was revealed by the writer using Muysken theory. Data was gathered through the process of studying and learning inside the classroom. The writer recorded and identified the data and took notes from the beginning until the end of the class. The data collection was done in one meeting a week and it took 60 minutes long. The result from transcription shows that there were three types of code-mixing used by students in the learning process, namely (1) insertion, (2) alternation and (3) congruent lexicalization. <p><em>The objective of this study is to find out the types of</em> <em>derivational</em> <em>affixes</em> <em>in William Shakespeare’s p</em><em>lay </em><em>Romeo and Juliet. </em><em>Therefore, this study applied Lieber's (2009) theory to find out the types of derivational affixes. This study was conducted using qualitative research methods. The data in this study are the words that have derivational words in William Shakespeare's p</em><em>lay </em><em>Romeo and Juliet. </em><em>The findings show that there are 104 data of derivational affixes which are divided into three types of derivational affixes; they are prefixes, suffixes, and circumfixes. There are 22 data of prefixes: </em><em>dis-(2), un-(12), in-(3), en-(1), and mis-(4), while 69 data of suffixes: -ly(17), -less(3), -ness(7), -ence(3), -ance(3), -ion(8),</em> <em> -ish(1), -full (5), -en(3), -er/-ar(6), -wise(1), -ity(4), -fy(1), -ian(1), -hood(3), -ous(2), -age(1), and 13 data of circumfixes: un-ed (7), un-ly(1), dis-ed(3), mis-ed(1), mis-en(1). </em></p> <p> </p>Chrystien Las Septania NababanEsron AmbaritaVivi Novalia Sitinjak

<p><em>The objective of this study is to find out the types of compound words in The Jakarta Post Articles in Joshua Hutabarat’s Murder based on McCarthy, 2005 theory. This study was applied by using a descriptive qualitative approach. The source of the data of this study was collected from Joshua Hutabarat’s Murder articles in The Jakarta Post. The writer found three types of compound words, they are compound nouns, compound verbs, and compound adjectives. <p><em>This research discusses about type and factors of code-mixing. This thesis analyzed about Code-Mixing in Kick Andy Talk Show on Metro TV. The researcher used Muysken theory (2000) to find out the types of code-mixing and the factors of code-mixing by Bhatia and Ritchie (2008). The researcher used a descriptive qualitative approach to get the data. The results showed that there are 53 data analyses of code-mixing performed 20 data on insertion, 20 data on alternation, and 13 data on congruent lexicalization. The researcher also found three factors for the occurrence of code-mixing, namely participant roles and relationships, situational factors, and message-intrinsic.</em></p>Devy GintingEsron AmbaritaKarana Jaya Tarigan

<p><em>The aim of this study is to categorize various forms of figurative language and look at how it is employed in a few of Celine Dion's song lyrics. The research's data source was the selected Celine Dion song lyrics. In this study, the Knickerbocker and Renninger hypothesis was used. The technique method used in analyzing this study is a descriptive qualitative method, focusing on the numerous types of figurative language and the varied ways in which it is interpreted in literary works. This study has found a conclusion based on the aforementioned objective. 33 data of information were found, including 5 metaphors, 6 personifications, 1 simile, 16 hyperbole, and 5 dead metaphors. In this inquiry, metaphor is most common. Furthermore, figurative language may be perceived in five distinct ways: conceptual meaning, connotative meaning, social meaning, affective meaning, and reflected meaning.</em></p>Sri Mutiara ManikMilisi SembiringVivi Novalia Sitinjak
