Abstract

The objective of the study is to identify the types of slang words found in Doja Cat’s selected song lyrics in Planet Her album. The study applies Allan and Burridge's (2006) theory, which classifies slang words into five types: fresh and creative, flippant, imitative, acronym, and clipping. This study applies descriptive qualitative method and library research approach. The data are collected from Doja Cat's selected song lyrics in Planet Her album entitled: Woman, Get Into It (Yuh), Need to Know, I Don't Do Drugs, Love To Dream, Been Like This, Ain't Shit, Imagine, Alone, and Kiss Me More. Based on the data analysis, there are 61 data that contain slang words and only 4 types of slang words found in the data. They are fresh and creative (11.5%), flippant (16.4%), imitative (14.8%) and clipping (57.3%). Thus, clipping slang words are the type that is most often found, while acronym slang words are not found.
