THE KINDS OF LOVE THROUGH THE MAIN CHARACTER IN FLIPPED MOVIE’S SCRIPT

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out and analyze the kinds of love in Flipped movie’s script based on ancient Greek kinds of love proposed by Yousefvand 2015:234 (Fromm 1956). The writer analyzes the kinds of love in Flipped movie’s script by using thematic approach. The data of this research will be narrations and dialogues from Flipped movie’s script. This study applies descriptive qualitative research. Yousefvand 2015: 234 (Fromm 1956) states that there are four kinds of ancient Greek love, namely eros, agape, philia, and storge.  The results of this study show that there are four kinds of love found in Flipped movie’s script, namely (1) eros, (2) agape, (3) philia, and (4) storge. The powers of love through the main character in Flipped movie’s script can be divided into six powers, namely reward power, legitimate power, expert power, informational power, coercive power, and referent power.
