Abstract

This thesis is entitled The Characterization of Andrea in the Movie Script The Devil Wears Prada: The Struggle of Women. The objectives of this study are to find out the women’s struggle and to know how Andrea as the main character portrayed in the Movie Script The Devil Wears Prada. Therefore, this study applies Luh Ketut Suryani to analyze the kinds of women’s struggle and Joseph M. Boggs and Dennis W. Petrie to analyze Andrea’s character. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of this study were utterances from movie script. The finding of this study shows that there are three kinds of women’s struggle, namely the to accept the fact of life, the struggle to achieve a dream, and the struggle in the form of affection. Also, five the characterization of Andrea such as confidence, smart, never give up, hard worker, and workaholic.
