<p><strong>Background:</strong><strong> </strong>Myocardial Infarction (MI) is a cardiovascular disorder that is a primary cause of death worldwide. According to the 2017 data from the World Health Organization, this disease can result in approximately 17.9 million deaths annually, constituting around 31% of the total global mortality rate. One of the treatments for cardiovascular disorder in addition to using conventional therapy are traditional treatments such as basil leaves (Ocimum sp.). The antioxidant activity in basil leave is believed to act as a cardioprotective agent. <strong>Method:</strong> This paper uses a literature study or literature review of research articles. Search articles through Google Scholar and Pubmed with keywords of “cardioprotective” and “basil leaves”. The criteria for the articles used were published in the last 5 years, namely from 2019 to 2024.</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> Based on the literature search, there were 5 studies related to the cardioprotective effect of basil leaves in experimental animal models. Basil leaves used varies from extract form, gel, and oil. </p> <p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> Based on the literature study, it was found that basil leave is a herbal plant that has a fairly effective cardioprotective effect.</p> <p><strong> </strong></p>Desi Prawita SariJekson SiahaanHendrika A Silitonga

<p><strong>Background</strong>: Artificial sweeteners are often used in everyday life because they are relatively cheap and in small amounts can provide many times the sweetness of granulated sugar. The use of artificial sweeteners in the long term can cause various health problems. Therefore, this study aims to determine blood glucose levels given several sweetener solutions so that people are more selective in choosing sweeteners in everyday life.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: This type of research is true experimental using posttest-only control group design method. This study used three treatments on white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strain, namely cyclamate, stevia, and granulated sugar with a dose of 10mg/kgBW for 2 weeks. The data were analyzed using the Saphiro-Wilk test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Mann-Whitney test.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: The results showed that the average blood glucose given cyclamate was 128.33, stevia was 84.43, and sugar was 86.13. While the results of the normality test showed p > 0.05 with a value of 0.107 for cyclamate, 0.126 for stevia, and 0.365 for granulated sugar. The results of the homogeneity test showed p < 0.05 with a value of 0.002 and the Kruskal-Wallis test showed p < 0.05 with a value of 0.003.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: there was a significant difference and in the stevia group against the control group and the sugar group against the control group showed p > 0.05 with a value of 0.536 and 0.121, which means there is no significant difference.</p>Tan Emanuella Veilen Madelline WillyRahajoe Imam Santosa Salmon Charles Siahaan

<p><strong>Background:</strong> Chronic kidney failure is a condition characterized by structural or functional disorders of the kidneys. In Indonesia, patients with chronic kidney failure who underwent active hemodialysis in 2015 reached 30,554 patients. Blood glucose levels in this study is an assessment based on a decrease or increase before and after hemodialysis in patients with chronic kidney failure. This study aims to analyze the results of blood glucose levels in patients with chronic kidney failure before and after hemodialysis at the Santa Elisabeth Hospital Medan 2022 patient.</p> <p><strong>Method:</strong> This study used an analytical descriptive method. The total population in this study are 178 people with a total sample of 64 people. Retrieval of data results is done by using automation tools.</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> The results of the study of examining blood glucose levels before and after hemodialysis showed that the average blood glucose level of respondents before hemodialysis were 131.27 mg/dl with a Standard Deviation of 26,441 and at this average it can be said that the respondent's blood glucose level was still low. within normal limits. The blood glucose level after hemodialysis is 123.69 mg/dl with a standard deviation of 26.82. It can be concluded that there is a change in the average blood glucose level before and after hemodialysis, which is 8 mg/dl. Blood glucose levels before and after hemodialysis in this study can be said to be in the normal category. s blood glucose level was still low. within normal limits. The blood glucose level after hemodialysis is 123.69 mg/dl with a standard deviation of 26.82.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: It can be concluded that there is a change in the average blood glucose level before and after hemodialysis, which is 8 mg/dl. <p><strong>Background:</strong> Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a something disease marked metabolic _ with increase an levels sugar blood or hyperglycemia that is not reasonable due to by insulin secretion , insulin resistance or both . Indonesia is ranked 7th out of 10 countries with amount patient 10.7 _ million . In normal people found glucose in urine when has reach threshold limit kidney to glucose blood . On inspection glucose blood and urine there is results different that is glucose blood tall whereas glucose urine negative . Destination study this is for knowing is there is difference results Among rate glucose blood with glucose urine on NIDDM type diabetes mellitus patient.</p> <p><strong>Method:</strong> Type study descriptive . Population on study this is 613 peoples , sample 50 peoples with technique quota sampling . Data collection obtained through inspection rate glucose sample blood with Siemens Dimension Xpand PLUS tools and Glucose Urine with Benedict's solution.</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> Glucose level obtained 100% hyperglycemic blood > 200mg/dl, minimum value level sugar blood 204 mg/dl, value maximum rate sugar blood 592mg/dl, average level sugar blood 335.18 mg / dl and Results glucose urine positive (+) 11 samples , positive (++) 10 samples , positive (+++) 22 samples, positive (++++) 2 samples and negative urine (-) as many as 3 samples .</p> <p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> Conclusion there is difference results results rate glucose sample blood and glucose urine where there is sample negative urine _ on Patients with Diabetes Mellitus type NIDDM Recommended moment To do inspection glucose urine should sample used that is urine morning or sample urine that is taken together with taking sample blood patients with diabetes mellitus, so that the results inspection more easy controlled .</p>Seri Rayani BangunAnna Pefrianti SiburianPaska Ramawati

<p><strong>Background</strong>: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of jatropha leaf extract (<em>Jatropha curcas</em> L) with a concentration of 30%, 50%, 70%, 90%, and 100% against bacteria <em>Klebsiella pneumoniae </em>with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid as a comparison.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: The type of research used is true experiment with design posttest only. Antibacterial effectiveness test of leaf extract (Jatropha curcas L) against <em>Klebsiella pneumoniae </em>by agar diffusion/Kirby-Bauer using disc paper in which there is jatropha leaf extract then put into culture media (MHA) this method is useful for observing the diameter of the inhibition zone extract then the results are batch-to-batch good.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: The data processing method used in the research trial was Shapiro-Wilk, namely one-way ANOVA to determine the antibacterial effect of jatropha leaf extract and the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test to determine the difference in antibacterial effects between the 2 treatment groups.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: From this test, it shows that the research data is normally distributed because p> 0.05 in the statistical test oneway ANOVAshows a value of p= 0.000 (p <0.05), that is, there is a significant difference in the antibacterial effect of jatropha leaf extract (Jatropha curcas L) on bacteria. <em>Klebsiella pneumoniae </em>in the analysis results posthoc LSD showed that there was a significant difference between the extract group and the other extract treatment groups.</p>Qori FadillahMeldawati
